Ardan ÖZMENOĞLU

(b.1979, Ankara), Contemporary Artist. She received her BA and MFA from Bilkent University, Faculty of Fine Arts, Design and Architecture. Her works are mainly consisting of site-specific installations, paintings, and transparent glass sculptures that she creates using original screen-printing techniques on different material surfaces. She worked as an invited artist at Berkeley Kala Art Institute, USA; Ateliergemeinschaft Milchhof e.V. Berlin; Frans Masereel Art Center, Belgium; Kulturkontakt Austria, Vienna and Glasstress Murano, Venice.

Özmenoğlu’s works are known for overturning the expressions and images of Turkish and global popular culture. Especially in post-it notes, neon and glass artworks, using the material with the meaning of its burden it develops a special language that overlaps cultural history and everyday life. Özmenoğlu, our age defined by the speed of communications and technology, within the meaning of slippery floors and plenty of references, signs, and a unique line of contemporary art in Turkey with her slalom from the image. Many of her works are informed by her own biography, but they also set a universal example of the artistic examination of national and cultural identity, individuality, and collective visual memory.

Her works can be found in important collections internationally, such as the Hort Collection NYC, Naked Heart Foundation, the Frankfurt Airport Collection, the Osthaus Museum Hagen Collection, the Kala Art Institute Collection, the Borusan Contemporary Art Collection, the UniCredit Bank Art collection, the Fondation Jan Michalski Collection, the Imoga Mundi (Benetton) Collection and the Istanbul Modern Museum Collection.
Ardan Özmenoğlu’s artworks have been shown worldwide, she continues her life and work in her studio in Yeniköy, Istanbul.
